That’s the word out of the Desperate Housewives panel at ABC’s press tour for TV critics, which included creator Marc Cherry, executive producer Bob Daily and all the women (Eva, Teri, Nicollette, Felicity, Marcia and, yes, even Dana Delany—who will be back for season five, boo-yah!).
Says Marc Cherry:
“I’ve made the decision that after seven years I will probably keel over in a hump. I love my baby, I love working with these gals, but the idea of letting anyone else take the show from me kind of makes me sad and sick to my stomach...I’m going to take it for seven years, and we’re going to get out while people still like us.”
But will it happen? Not so, according to ABC President Steve McPherson, who shouted out from the back of the room, "Not gonna happen!" And Cherry joked that this could all be a genius ploy to get more money for season eight.
Not Pregnant: Eva Longoria Parker reiterated she isn’t pregnant and that her new "frumpy" look for the show is all part of Gaby's new direction. As you know, D.H. will flash-forward five years into the future for the new season, when Eva is the exasperated mother of two cute little girls (whom Eva said she's "already in love with").
Added Eva: “Marc told me last year before the season finale that we wanted her to have the mom haircut, and that she has let herself go because Carlos is blind, she’s had two kids, and she’s just really kind of let go of that vanity. We brainstormed with hair and makeup and wardrobe, and I cut my hair because I didn’t want to wear a wig once he told me how long it was going to last.”
Gaby also needs to be fuller. “So yeah, [it’s] butt pads, stomach pads, boob pads,” Eva said. “I love it, because I come to hair and makeup now and it's 10 minutes instead of two hours. I wake up and go straight to set.”

But we did learn that Susan (Teri) “no longer believes in love”—so you better believe something bad went down with Mike (James Denton), which led her to her new love interest Gale Harold.
As for Dana Delany and her character, Katherine Mayfair, Cherry and Daily said that it was “impossible not to bring her back” after the response from fans who “loved that character.” Hey, that’s you! You already accomplished something awesome today without even knowing it.
