Ay! What a night. Truth told, I'm still recouping from last night's Fox carnival at the Santa Monica Pier, which was a good time and had a pretty stellar turnout. (Stand by for video interviews of some of our faves like Wentworth Miller, Hugh Laurie, David Boreanaz and more.) In the meantime, a few juicy morsel of Foxy scoop...
New Couple? The always lovely Amanda Bynes and Family Guy boss Seth McFarlane (pictured above recently at a movie theater) were at each other's sides throughout last night's Fox soiree, talking at length to network honcho Peter Ligouri and leaving together at the end of the night to go to another party. So are they pitching a new series? Dating? Just friends? That was the topic du jour among those pesky, busybody TV critics, and just to help them out (no busybody here, just helping some friends in need!) I reached out to Amanda's rep, who told me: "It's the first I've heard of it. She did an episode of Family Guy before, so I think they are just friends from that."
"Zachary Quinto Will Make You Cry." Thankfully, producer Bryan Burk meant this in nothing but a good way, talking about our favorite Heroes star (shhh...don't tell) Zachary Quinto's turn as Spock in the upcomign Star Trek blockbuster. Added J.J. Abrams: "Zachary brought a gravity and an incredible sense of humor, which is a wonderful combination because the Spock character is deceivingly complicated. And the revelation for me in watching the movie was that he's extraordinary. He was doing things I didn't even realize while we were shooting. These amazing things that sort of track the story." Don't know about you, but this makes my heart sing. Almost as much as this...
Mad About Mad Men: When asked which TV shows he likes to watch, Abrams said: "I love Mad Men. I just love it. In fact, I can't stand how much I love it." I can't stand how much I love that answer. A little scoop for J.J.: It looks like Maggie Siff, aka department-store heiress and independent woman Rachel Menken, will be back in Don Draper's life. Although she is mainly preoccupied with her new FX series, Sons of Anarchy, a little birdie told me last night that we will be getting at least a glimpse of Rachel when the show returns for season two.
