Watch: How to Pull Off Lashes for Red Carpet Season

January is here, so it's officially red carpet season.

You know what that means: It's time to get glam. Whether you're a celeb or not, one beauty trend that never goes out of style is full, fluttering eyelashes. But more specifically: false lashes.

"They really are the best way to take a look to the next level, for the red carpet or just for every day," reaffirmed celeb makeup artist Toby Fleischman. She's worked with everyone from Evan Rachel Wood to Ruby Rose, so she knows a thing or two about finding the right falsies for your look.

First off, you may or may not know that the most popular brand for red carpet occasions is Ardell lashes. While the celeb makeup artist is admittedly partial to individual lashes, like the ones in Ardell's DuraLash Starter Kit, there are so many other options to choose from. "With individual lashes you can create a look that is very natural. You can use just a few on the end or really contour the eye with different sizes," explained the pro.

However, if you're more of a lash strip girl, the pro's go-to is Ardell's Demi Wispies. And for good reason: Demi Lovato, Dakota Johnson and Britney Spears are all fans of the Demi Wispies, too. "The reason that I love the Wispies (and what's great about all Ardell lashes) when you're looking at a strip, is that the lashes are all different lengths," explained the pro.

Why does that matter? Simply put, any variety in length mimics the natural, uneven texture of your real lashes. So when you layer them over your natural lashes it just blends in better. If, however, you're going for a wide, doe-eye effect, go for lashes that are longer in the middle, like Ardell's Natural Multipack 110. The options are truly endless. Once you've picked your pair, applying them is a whole other story.
