Holiday party season is in full swing, and you know what that means: Time to up that beauty game!

But, let's be honest: The biggest decision on your plate is creating a holiday hair-do that feels new, fresh and festive all at the same time. Luckily, Ulta Beauty Artistic Expert Aki Hill has a few ultramodern ideas, like a wrapped ponytail and a textured updo, for you to try.

And don't stress about your skill level because "the more organic you can make the hairstyle, the better," said the pro.

Backwards Crown

The first look is a classy updo finished with a gold headband worn backwards on the crown of the head. To start, prep your hair with a blow dryer and round brush to give the hair body. Before styling, dust a little Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Volumizing & Texturizing Powder at the roots and ends of your hair. "In order for the hair to stay up without falling, or your pins to start popping out, you definitely want to have some grip in the hair," advised the pro.

As for the ‘do, it's really simple: Twist small sections of the hair along each side of the head. Make sure you pin the hair while you twist until each side meets at the nape of the neck. Secure the ponytail, fluff it and roll it up to complete the style. Top the look with a fun headband, like Elle's Gold Leaf Headband, along the back. That's it!

Wrapped Ponytail

Another even cinchier idea is to simply add gold thread or velvet ribbon to a ponytail to give it a polished, evening vibe. Instead of wrapping it around just the base, try weaving it through the entire ponytail for a touch of drama. Pro tip: Part your hair where you naturally part it and pull it into a low ponytail. Once secure, use Alterna Caviar CC Cream to smooth out the style. Then use a second product, Redkin Rough Paste, to slick down the edges around the hairline. This will keep pesky flyways at bay. Once your locks are slicked to your liking, add your ribbon!
