SUR is cooking up some relationship drama right before the holidays.

E! News can confirm Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay filed for divorce from Mike Shay this week after experiencing marital problems.

"While we have made the difficult decision to move forward separately, our story will continue on through the love and mutual respect that we have cultivated throughout our 15-year friendship," the couple said in a statement to E! News. "Much of the recent speculation and reporting on our relationship has been misguided, and we have come to an amicable decision on all matters."

The statement continued, "We might have failed at our marriage, but we are committed to succeeding as friends and will continue to support each other's personal happiness and professional success."

After the news was announced, Scheana took to Twitter to write, "Thank you all for the love today! It's never easy to split with someone you still love, but we will always remain friends."

Earlier this month, the couple was forced to speak out on social media when reports of marital struggles hit the tabloids.

"I am not missing. I am sober. I am Happy!!!" Mike wrote on Instagram while reading the Los Angeles Times. "Don't believe everything you read. I love my wife and will always love my wife.  Whatever is going on between us will stay between us! #pumprules."

"Looking into the future!" Scheana added in a separate post.  "The truth will come out this season on #PumpRules so stay tuned!"

While the divorce filing was not filmed for the show, a source tells us that the couple's marriage problems and the decline of their relationship will play out on the show.

Earlier this year, Scheana opened up to E! News about her marriage. While Vanderpump Rules viewers have seen the couple experience some difficulties, the Bravo star said they were in a good place.

"We are in the best place we've ever been in. He's not drinking anymore. He hasn't taken a pill in well over a year now," Scheana told E! News. "We're doing amazing. He's doing a lot of stuff with music, rapping, singing, DJing, producing, he's doing it all right now. It's exciting. He's doing really good."
