Is Christian Slater looking to leave Mr. Robot?!

Don't worry—it's not what it seems.

The hit USA show star appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday and talks to host Ellen DeGeneres about his recent stint of guest-hosting alongside Kelly Ripa on Live! With Kelly. "I love it, I live about, you know, six blocks away from there," Slater tells DeGeneres of the studio's location. "It's one of the greatest jobs ever, so yeah, Kelly, I'm available! Let's do it!"

Not only would it be convenient for him, he also wouldn't mind what would be his everyday colleague. "I love her, she's amazing," Slater gushes about Ripa.

But what about Mr. Robot? Certainly he wouldn't trade places. Much to fans' delight he says he can "absolutely handle both jobs." Phew!

Kelly Ripa & Michael Strahan's Best Live Moments

"I'm putting my hat in the ring, why not?" Slater says about ABC's hunt for Ripa's permanent co-host.

Ripa's search for a new co-host after Michael Strahan left continues, but for now she has launched a contest allowing anyone to try out for the role. Other candidates include Neil Patrick Harris and Fred Savage, but Anderson Coooper, a popular choice, took himself out of the running.

Harris, however, told E! News that while it would be a delightful opportunity, he doesn't know if it would be for him because of the year-round schedule. "I've got another good job," he told us. "I'm doing a series for Netflix that'll happen in January and that takes up well over half my year. So the rest of my time is spent with my family, chilling and relaxing."

He did, however, mention how fun it is to do Live! here and there.

"The fun thing about Kelly is that you get to show up at 8:30, be on TV at 9, shoot the breeze, meet some fun people and then you're out by 10:07," he explained. "So it's a nice gig, but I wouldn't want to do it all year long."

We'll just have to continue to wait to see whom Ripa chooses.
