When it's down to the fashion elite, New York Fashion Week is the place to be. From majestic runway shows to endless street style inspiration, it comes to no surprise that #NYFW has already hit over 3 million hits on Instagram alone.

So, for a guide on how to get your pictures, videos and Boomerangs trending this fashion month, follow E!'s handy guide below:

Get Tagged

The easiest way to grow your following and those double taps is by being tagged in photos taken by other accounts—naturally, the larger their following, the more exposure there is for you.

Make you're getting ‘papped' by all those street style photographers you see hanging around the NYFW venues by wearing the latest trends. This season it's all about pyjama suits and velvet accessories—but anything statement tends to work like a charm.

Street style photographers love an action snap too, so whatever you do, don't stop to pose! Look at your phone and carry on walking. You know what we're talking about, you've totally seen those candid shots on your Insta feeds.

 'Twin Up' with your bestie

Make a statement with your fashion week friend by wearing matching outfits. Opt for the same colour or designer and strut your stuff together.

Glossy magazines love a trendy duo, and making it to a print counterpart will do wonders for your profile.

Celebrity Photos

Everyone loves a great celebrity snap! The stars are out in force during fashion week, so it's always handy to have your camera set to selfie mode by default.

Record a Catwalk Show

Whether you work in fashion, are an established influencer or have just embarked your own fashion journey, it's worth applying for access to shows. Most designers like a mix of media—established and up-and-coming talent—to attend. Don't be afraid to contact PR companies either.

Making the most of Snapchat and Instagram's latest feature, InstaStories, is especially great when you're at runway shows. It gives your viewers a first-hand view of dazzling new collections, and is a great way to gain new followers.

Choose great accomodation

Book a hotel close to the action to save time on travel. If the room has a great view of the New York skyline–even better. Everyone loves a 'Good Morning New York' tag!

Yellow cabs are your BFFs

Not only do they look great in photos, but yellow cabs are also far more accessible than Uber's during fashion week—and now that they accept card payments, there is no comparison when it comes to saving time!

Use the journey to add a few extra hashtags to your post and tweet where you are off to next.
