If you're a Rihanna fan (who isn't?) you know that the girl takes her manicures more seriously than most.
Normally we're on high alert for the singer's infamously over-the-top manis, but at last night's VMAs she swapped her usual in-your-face paint job for a low-key, monochromatic look. A pretty dusty mauve shade, to be exact.
Why the sudden change of polish? "We wanted to find a color that would match any outfit and makeup changes she may have throughout the show. So we chose a beautiful mauve color with a subtle shimmer that looks gorgeous against her skin tone," shared her manicurist, Kimmie Kyees.

And we have to agree: A deep, off-pink tone is the new neutral that will get you through Monday to Friday with ease. It's not a boring nude and the oh-so slight shimmer gives it a cool girl twist in a subtle way that works for the office, but also for a dinner date. You'll get more mileage, too, because the glitter helps to mask any chips. It doesn't have to be perfectly pink or dusty, either—the tone can be anywhere in between. As long as it's a subdued pink with some sort of sparkle, you'll be channeling Riri in no time.
Pro tip: File yours into stiletto points before swiping on your new fave color—if you're going for that full Rihanna effect, that is. Otherwise, polish as usual.
