The 2016 Rio Olympics are wrapping up, and boy are we sad to see it go.
This year's Summer Games were chock full of history-making moments and incredibly impressive athletes, but it was the many breakout stars that weren't pining for a spot on the winners' podium that we couldn't stop talking about. In fact, Olympic diehards were just as fascinated with the action going down off the courts, pools and balance beams as the sporting events themselves.
Yes, all eyes were on Michael Phelps as he took home his 28th career medal, but when the cameras panned to his 3-month old son Boomer decked out in red, white and blue? Game over. Or that social media love fest between Simone Biles and Zac Efron? Retweeted, favorited and shared.
So without further ado, here are the individuals worthy of a gold medal for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with their athletic ability, but everything to do with making Rio an Olympic Games we won't soon forget:
Zac Efron: After weeks of mounting anticipation for the powerhouse gymnast and the actor to finally meet in person, 19-year-old Simone and the rest of Team USA's Final Five were given the celeb sighting of a lifetime when Efron flew to Rio and surprised the girls during their appearance on the Today show.
"If you bring him out, I think I'm going to pass out,'' Biles warned Hoda Kotb before Efron entered the room. Queue the screaming! "I'm shaking," she said repeatedly while teammate Laurie Hernandez whispered to Biles, "He's even more gorgeous in person."
"When I found out Simone and this team were fans, I was like, 'What kind of guy am I if I don't show up?''' Zac told Kotb and Matt Lauer. Thank goodness we never had to find out.
Leslie Jones: The unsung hero of the Rio Games is without a doubt this comedienne extraordinaire. Jones' Olympic coverage from the comfort of her own home was so epic that NBC simply had no other option than to fly the hilarious superfan to Brazil to witness the spectacle in person.
The Saturday Night Live star even got her own Snapchat filter in celebration of her arrival, where she proceeded to live her best life as the ultimate Olympic supporter.
Slay all day, Leslie. Slay all day.
Matthew McConaughey: Accompanying his Brazilian-born wife Camila Alves to Rio, the actor hit balls on the Olympic golf course in addition to catching women's and men's rugby, swimming, beach volleyball and table tennis.
"The common denominator is the sport," he told USA Today of his passion for the global event. "You come here and everybody has different styles of play, different chants and cheers on the sidelines, different ways how they go about playing the game, different religions, different politics… and the equalizer is the game."
McConaughey even tried his hand at wrestling rugby star Jillion Potter, who totally had the upper hand against the non-athlete.
Boomer Phelps: Typically seated on mom Nicole Johnson's lap in the stands for each of dad Michael Phelps' races, the precious baby was always dressed up in a patriotic ensemble, whether it was stars and stripes or sparkly gold kicks.
After collecting his second gold medal of the 2016 Olympics in the men's 200m butterfly, the veteran athlete rushed to meet his biggest fan. Photographers could not snap fast enough as the swimmer planted sweet kisses on his son's cheek—yet another viral moment in the duo's first Olympics together.
If Michael has anything to do with it, Boomer will be training for his own Olympic debut in no time at all.

Aly Raisman's Parents: Ahead of the 2016 Games, fans of women's gymnastics were looking forward to yet another appearance from the Team USA gymnast's incredibly stressed out parental unit. They stole headlines four years earlier in London for their emotional reaction to Aly's meets, but Rio was no exception as they shrieked, cringed and squirmed their way through their 22-year-old daughter's gold medal-winning routines.
"I get nervous because I know what goes into it and how many hours she's prepared and how hard she is on herself, and I want her to be happy and go out there and do the best performance she can do," Raisman's exceptionally proud mom told People.
Gisele Bündchen: The Brazilian bombshell set the tone for the weeks to follow when she kicked off the opening ceremony with a tribute to her native country, strutting her stuff to the tune of bossa nova jazz classic, "The Girl from Ipanema." Sporting a floor-length gown, she gleamed from every angle, her gold sequins reflecting the light as she turned the Summer Games into her very own cat walk.
Gisele then stole the spotlight from any athletes about to make their Olympic entrance when she got in the crowd and began to seriously rock out hard, dancing up a storm and jumping up and down while singing along to the performances on stage.
These were the Olympic Games we were hoping for, and Rio delivered.
