Hulk Hogan recalls crying and shaking when he won his legal case against Gawker, after suing the website for posing a video of him having sex with his then-best friend's wife.
The 62-year-old wrestling legend, whose real name is Terry Bollea, made his comments on Good Morning America Wednesday in what marked his first TV interview since Friday's verdict.
"I just did this crazy involuntary snort like a 900-pound pig and as I tried not to snort again, water just came pouring out of my eyes," he said. "I just started shaking."
Hogan had made similar comments to The New York Post Tuesday.
"When the verdict came in and the people, the jury of my peers says, 'We believe you, it just, you know, 'The world is round, I told you,'" he said on GMA. "It was just really great."
Hogan had sued Gawker for posting a clip in 2012 from a leaked tape that showed him having sex with the wife of his then-best friend, radio shock jock Bubba "the Love Sponge" Clem. He says he did not know he was being recorded.
A Florida jury awarded Hogan $60 million for emotional distress, $55 million for economic damages and $25 million in punitive damages, including $10 million to be paid by Gawker CEO and founder Nick Denton. In a statement posted on the website Tuesday, he called the trial a "sham from the start" and said, "We will have our day back in appeals court, and we will be vindicated."
Hogan says is still unable to watch the footage.
"I was in a situation where I had to look and identify myself on a player and I walked away from it," he said on GMA. "I can't...I would never watch the tape."
He had said on The Howard Stern Show in 2012 that he had seen about 15 seconds of the footage.
"It made me sick to my stomach," he said.
Hogan said on GMA he doesn't agree with anything he did on the tape, calling it "very embarrassing" and saying, "That's not who I am."
"The only thing I can say is I pray to God that people can learn from my mistake because I sure did," he said.
He had told Howard Stern the video was shot around 2006 and that he was embarrassed by it, noting that it turned his life "upside down." He said at the time it was posted, he had gotten his "life back together" and had gotten remarried. Hogan wed second wife Jennifer McDaniel less than two years prior.
He said on GMA his kids, Nick and Brooke, were "very understanding" about the tape, adding, "They love their dad and I kinda like gave them the Reader's Digest version of what happened. Gracefully, they let me live."
