Selena Gomez Gets Netflix Miniseries 13 Reasons Why

Get the details on her new series based on the hit book

Selena Gomez is returning to the small screen…or your computer screen or cell phone. E! News has confirmed Netflix has ordered a miniseries based on the young adult novel 13 Reasons Why straight to series with the singer-actress attached to executive produce the 13-episode series.

Variety first reported the news.

Gomez's new series is based on Jay Asher's 2007 novel of the same name. 13 Reasons Why is the story of Hanna Baker, a high schooler who commits suicide. Clay, who has yet to be cast, receives a box of tapes from Hannah, his late classmate and crush after she kills herself. On the tapes, which get passed along to other students based on Hannah's instructions, Hannah reveals why the 13 reasons why she took her own life.

Gomez and her mom, Mandy Teefey, and Kristel Laiblin will executive produce.

News of Gomez's miniseries comes on the heels of the release of "Revival," her second solo album. Her last acting TV gig was The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex, a Disney Channel movie, in 2013. She got her start on Barney and Friends in 2002. On the big screen she has a role in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, voiced a role in Hotel Translyvania 2 and  The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving.

No premiere date has been announced.
