Donald Trump's Supporters Have the Worst Grammar, According to Science

According to science, that is.

Donald Trump may be leading in the polls, but it seems his supporters aren't exactly winning.

That's because they make the most grammatical errors out of any group of candidate supporters in the 2016 presidential election. Uh-oh. The San Francisco-based Grammarly, a website dedicated to helping writers catch their spelling and grammar errors, conducted a study of the Facebook profiles of each of the front-runners. They combed through thousands of comments on each page, taking note of each and every linguistic misstep.

They found several trends, but the most interesting was that people who commented on Mr. Trump's posts had the worst grammar out of all the constituents. They racked up an average of a whopping 12.6 errors for 100 words. Even if you're typing on your brand new iPhone and haven't gotten the hang of the 3-D touch, that's bad. Really bad.

The study only considered positive comments for the final tally, so Trump's fans don't even have the excuse that there were bots or crazies bringing the collective group down. Maybe they're just so fired up about how much they hate Oreos to pay attention to things like punctuation?

Grammarly also found that overall, Democrats use better grammar than Republicans (well, technically, that they have fewer grammatical errors). And regardless of political affiliation, the more popular candidate's pages had more errors. That means that the fans of Hillary Clinton and Carly Fiorina scored pretty badly (though not as low as Trump, obviously), and that the pages of Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley were pretty harmless, relatively speaking.

So now let's get to the real question at hand: Just what were these grammatical errors anyway? It turns out that when political supporters get really psyched, they start to forget everything they learned in elementary school. Most issues centered around InCorrect CapitaLization, unnecessary ellipses...and extra exclamation points!!

But if you think about it, is that really any worse than all of the other violations we see on Facebook on a daily basis? Probably not.
