Now that his secret is out, Danny Pintauro is opening up and speaking candidly about his HIV diagnosis.

Pintauro, who grew up in the spotlight as Jonathan Bower on the ‘80s sitcom Who's the Boss?, sat down with Oprah Winfrey and revealed what he's been harboring for 12 years, and now, the former child star has sat down with E! News to discuss his diagnosis in length.

And that includes how his co-stars Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano reacted to the news.

"Telling them was hard, just like telling my family was hard," he began, and continued to explain that Danza's initial reaction (the actor knew of the diagnosis prior to Pintauro's Winfrey interview) was one of disappointment.

"They are my other parents, Tony is my other father, and he'll always be my other father. And just like any father, he's gonna be disappointed when you give him bad news or when you tell him you haven't lived up to his expectation. That's OK. That's human nature. I can't ask him to not be disappointed."

But Danny adds, "In the same breath, though, his next words were, ‘Are you OK? What can I do? How can I help? It's give and take, and that's OK. Being disappointed means, people are disappointed in me and maybe that'll make it so they don't want people to be disappointed in them."

Milano, on the other hand, didn't know about the diagnosis, and found out just like the rest of us. The actress, who broke down over the news while guest co-hosting The Talk this morning, gave her on-screen brother a call to show her support.

"Alyssa called me this morning, and it was really early in the morning, so I didn't answer the call. But the message was so lovely and I can't wait to call her this afternoon and have a great chat with her and make sure she's OK," Pintauro tells us.

"That's part of my job, that's part of the responsibility is to make sure the person I'm talking to about it is OK, because that's just as important as I feel about it. So that's gonna be a good conversation."
