Superman is not turning Fifty Shades of Grey.

Despite rumors this summer that Henry Cavill will be playing Anastasia's boss Jake Hyde in Fifty Shades Darker, it sounds like that's more fantasy than reality.

"We're nowhere near casting," 50 Shades producer Dana Brunetti told me at the Emmys. "We haven't gotten into anything like that."

In fact, he said, "We don't even have a casting director on it yet."

While it's not official, James Foley will likely be directing the much-anticipated follow-up.

Any new casting rumors right now are just that—rumors. "It's so insane," Brunetti said. "Somebody posts something on some obscure blog and then it gets picked up by something a little less obscure and it keeps going. Fans are starting the news by saying things like [the Cavill casting]."

Cavill didn't do much to squash his 50 Shades buzz while he was promoting Man From U.N.C.L.E. in July.

"Basically what I can say is I can't say anything about it right now," he told E! News when we asked him about the widespread rumor.

Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are set to reprise their starring roles in Fifty Shades Darker, which is scheduled to be released on Feb. 10, 2017.

The movies are based on E.L. James' bestselling erotic book series.
