While many tuned in to the second GOP presidential debate Wednesday night, another high-profile political showdown was happening on The Tonight Show.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton fielded an unexpected call from "Donald Trump," played by Jimmy Fallon and his perfectly combed-over wig. Clinton wasted no time merging comedic banter with a few tightly-packed political punches.

"I haven't seen you since my last wedding," Fallon, impersonating Trump, quipped at the opening of the call.

"Well, I'm sure I'll see you at the next one," Clinton joked back. Good one.

When "Trump" asked Clinton how she would help women if elected in light of the backlash he has received, Clinton had an answer readily available.

"Donald, I've spent my entire career fighting for women's rights. I'll push for equal pay in the workplace, for protecting women's health and productive rights, making quality affordable child care a reality for families—that's what I believe in. That's what I'm fighting for."

She followed her answer with a question back at the "Donald," asking what exactly is his stance on women's issues.

"I know a lot of women and they have a lot of issues," faux Trump replied simply.

Next on the political agenda: immigration.

"Wall or giant wall?" "Trump" asked Clinton.

"America was built by people who came here; they worked their hearts out for a better life. That's what many immigrants are doing today. Their dream is to become American citizens and you're trying to stop them," Clinton answered. "Do you have any idea what it's like to work hard for something, to be so close to getting it then someone pops out of nowhere and tries to take it all away?"

Before anything got too serious, Fallon couldn't waste the opportunity for a punchline.

"Are you talking about Bernie Sanders?" faux Trump threw back at her, poking fun at the potential threat of the Democratic candidate's rising poll numbers to the former secretary of state.

When the conversation turned to Sanders' thinning hair, Clinton couldn't avoid one final jab at her Republican competitor.

"At least he doesn't have one strand that he twirls over his head like a soft serve at Dairy Queen."

In the words of Fallon, toupee—er—touché!
