Taylor Swift & Calvin Harris Were Set Up Together by Ellie Goulding! Singer Reveals Why She Played Matchmaker

The 28-year-old pop star made her comments to The Sun in an interview published on Wednesday

It appears that Ellie Goulding has been revealed as the mysterious force that brought Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris together. Her reason for playing matchmaker? Their, er, height, for starters.

The 28-year-old British pop singer talked to the U.K. newspaper The Sun this week about why she set the two up.

"I did play matchmaker, that's true," she said. "Calvin is a really great mate and he's so fantastic, and Taylor is such a cool person who I love. I thought, ‘They're both really awesome and both really tall, they'll be brilliant together.'"

Harris, a 31-year-old Scottish EDM artist, is believed to be 6'5", while the 25-year-old pop singer is 5'10".

According to a source, after they bumped into each other at the 2015 Brit Awards in London in February, Harris "was immediately smitten." The two sparked romance rumors over the next few months after they got cozy at a Haim concert and at the 2015 Wango Tango show and were seen together at places like Whole Foods. 

The two seemingly confirmed the romance speculation by showing sweet PDA at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.

Harris has even met her 23-year-old brother, Austin—the three all hung out with members of One Direction and pop star Ed Sheeran, one of Swift's male BFFs, at the show.

Goulding recently starred in Swift's new music video, "Bad Blood," which also features besties and models Gigi Hadid, Martha Hunt, Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne as well as Mariska Hargitay and Ellen Pompeo, whose Grey's Anatomy and Law & Order: SVU characters inspired the names of her cats, and more of her female friends.

Goulding had recently raised eyebrows by Instagramming and then deleting a photo of herself with friends and female celebs such as Katy Perry, who is rumored to be involved in a feud with Swift and is speculated by many to be the inspiration behind "Bad Blood". The two have never publicly acknowledged a conflict between them. Goulding said she deleted the photo because she "looked bad" in it.

In recent years, she and Harris have hung out together at celebrity events, including at the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards, where they were photographed with pop singer Rita Ora and...yes, Perry.
