It's going to take somebody super nasty to unite the teams of Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Law & Order: SVU for the big three-show crossover. That somebody is The Good Wife and The Walking Dead veteran Dallas Roberts as Dr. Yates.

Just how nasty is this Yates? Well in the clip below a fellow traveler stops him to ask why something in the back of his car was moving quite a bit. What could it be? A kidnapped girl or his dog? Is he nastier than the Beast (Pablo Schreiber)?

In the SVU part of the crossover, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Voight (Jason Beghe) continue the investigation into a rape and murder that is very similar to a case Benson worked with Stabler (Christopher Meloni) all those years ago. The Chicago team joins the SVU squad in New York to pursue Yates after they're forced to let him go in the Windy City.

SVU boss Warren Leight recently told press he had been contemplating a big bad for the show for a while. "And then here at SVU we've been kicking an idea around for a long time about a serial rapist/murderer who in the mode of a Ted Bundy kind of guy—incredibly charming, incredibly manipulative, able to get away with these crimes for a very, very long time across multiple jurisdictions," Leight said. "And when the idea of a crossover came up, Dick [Wolf] suggested I donate that idea to the crossover. It was going to be a two-parter for us. Then it became instead, I think, a good template…we knew we had enough for two episodes whether they were two SVU episodes or as it turned out, this crossover."

The crossover kicks off with Chicago Fire on Tuesday, April 28 at 10 p.m. and continues with Chicago PD at a special time on Wednesday, April 29 at 9 p.m. The big event concludes with Law & Order: SVU at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29. The first part will replay at 8 p.m. on Wednesday as well.

All three dramas have been renewed for new seasons, so you can probably count on more crossovers!

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
