Oh, this is going to be good!

Moviegoers hoping to receive some Spidey news at CinemaCon this week hit the jackpot Wednesday night when Sony announced exciting new plans for the big screen.

The Lego Movie and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to produce a fully animated Spider-Man movie, Sony chief Tom Rothman revealed at the Las Vegas convention.

The film, set for release on July 20, 2018, is not expected to interfere with the projects centered in the live-action Spider-Man universe. Those movies continue to move forward.

Spider-Man is set to appear in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War before Sony releases a standalone movie in the summer of 2017. While no new teases or details were provided in Las Vegas, both companies appear to be excited for the upcoming projects.

"Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world," said Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company at the time of the announcement. "We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."

Marvel president Kevin Feige agreed by adding, "I am thrilled to team with my friends at Sony Pictures along with Amy Pascal to produce the next Spider-Man movie….I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years."

The Spider-Man franchise is one of the cornerstones of Sony' s movie business. The James Bond series and the Jump Street franchise helped produce more than $4 billion worldwide for the studio.
