Homeless Social Experiment, YouTube

Here's a reality check—some people are really sh---y.

Sure, that's not breaking news, but one social experiment really brings meaning to the famous quote, "Some people are so poor, all they have is money."

In a viral YouTube video that has gained over 2.5 million views and counting, Yousef Saleh Erakat begs the question, "What if the homeless gave you money?" by flipping the script and setting out to see what happens when passers-by in Los Angeles are given money from a homeless person.

And the reaction is nothing less than shocking and disappointing.

The fouseyTube founder posed as a homeless man, sitting down on the curb with a sign that read, "No one has ever become poor by giving." After getting the attention of the pedestrian, Erakat would get some bills and offer them to the person in question.

Unfortunately, most took offense to his gesture, and usually responded with some sort of expletive-filled dig directed at Erakat as a way to stroke their own ego. (But shout-out to the few who showed all the love and humility they have in their heart. You're doing it right.)

"Going into this video, the end goal wasn't quite sure. You can never be sure because you can never know how people will react. It's a completely different video depending on if people react positively or negatively," Erakat wrote in the description of the video on YouTube.

"This video wasn't one of those, 'oh let's see if people offer us money.' It was, 'let's see how people feel about themselves when someone who is classified as 'lesser' than them on societies class ladder offers them money.' The results were not expected and not wanted.

"It doesn't matter how much you have in life if what you have in life takes away from you being humble. At the end of the day, even the most poor man can be the most rich depending on how much love he has in his heart."
