It was the bail heard 'round the worl: Nina Dobrev is leaving The Vampire Diaries

The actress made the announcement via Instagram, writing "I've just spent the most beautiful weekend on Lake Lanier in Georgia with my own TVD Family, the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn't just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party."

While the reality of her departure sinks in for TVD fans everywhere, emotions are running understandably high. Even though season seven is going to go on as planned, people are not taking the news well. Change is hard, you guys!

For starters, a lot of fans are just concerned about where The Vampire Diaries is going to go without their beloved Elena. Even though TVD mainstays like like Ian Somerhalder and Candice Accola are returning, the world seems to be especially attached to Nina.

Then there are the truly traumatized folks who have barely had time to recuperate from the great Zayn Malik Abandonment of 2015. It takes a truly brave soul to hold it together through two legendary breakups in such a short time.

Some were just confused—but understandably so, since it's been a rough spring.

And then there's young child actor J.J. Totah, who is undoubtedly Nina's biggest fan. We're guessing he's so devastated that he has yet to rise out of bed and face a world without Elena.

JJ is a huge fan of @ninadobrev & wanted to say hello. I told him he had 10 seconds.

Last one of JJ singing @ninadobrev praises. Nina, this dude loves you. So much. He's also on New Girl & a star.

He's probably even too sad to twerk. That, friends, is to know true sorrow.
