Susan Sarandon's ex Jonathan Bricklin is still reeling from his split with the actress.

The 37-year-old opened up about his heartache to Page Six earlier this week, which will also be documented on AOL's Connected, saying, "She's someone I loved more than anyone I've ever been with, and that won't change."

He continued, "We had a six-year relationship that's gone through ups and downs. We're taking some time apart to really refresh."

Bricklin, who met the 68-year-old star while on a 2010 vacation in Chile, also admitted that he despised being branded a "boy toy" by those close to Sarandon.

"I felt like I never lived up to that. I wasn't a backup dancer for Madonna, so I felt like no one [knew] anything about me…she's not dating some young male model that could look pretty in tabloid pictures," he explained.

"I loved her dating me, and I never felt embarrassed for her dating me. What I felt was, the general public and maybe her family and friends maybe felt that I wasn't good enough for her."

Sarandon and Bricklin announced that they were splitting in early March and he released the following statement to E! News:

"Susan and I have a lot of respect and great admiration for each other. It's impossible to concisely characterize our relationship, other than to say that it continues to evolve in new and unexpected ways."

It continued, "She supported my decision to be a part of AOL's Connected, and making this series about my life has brought up real and somewhat unexplored issues, but it didn't break us up."
