Jim Parsons Wins His Fourth Emmy Award for The Big Bang Theory, Thanks Late Father for the First Time

Also nominated for his work in HBO's The Normal Heart, Parsons has won for TBBT four out of seven times he's been nominated

That pretty much sums up Jim Parsons' night at the 2014 Emmys Awards on Monday night!

Nominated for the seventh time for his work on The Big Bang Theory as Sheldon Cooper, Parsons took him his fourth win for Best Actor in a Comedy, beating out Louie's Louis C.K., Episodes' Matt LeBlanc, Shameless' William H. Macy, House of Lies' Don Cheadle and Derek's Ricky Gervais.

"I really don't believe this," Parsons said after his name was called, despite the fact that he is batting over .500 when it comes to the Emmys. (Confidence, Parsons!)

And though it was his fourth trip up to the podium to accept an Emmy for his work on the CBS hit sitcom, Parsons acknowledged someone in his acceptance speech that he had never thanked before.

"I want to thank somebody I've never thanked before, largely because he passed away shortly before this craziness started, even though I think he was able to see it in his own way," Parsons said, "But my father, Mickey Parsons, he encouraged me to be an actor. He never discouraged me to be an actor, and in a career that hinges so much on confidence a lot of the time, that was a really great gift." 

Parsons is also up for another award at the 2014 Emmys, Best Supporting Actor in a TV movie or miniseries, for his work in HBO's The Normal Heart.
