The How I Met Your Mother series finale is being written. Yes, it's really happening people.

Series co-creator Carter Bays took to Twitter to share some thoughts and a document he found while getting started on the big How I Met Your Mother swan song.

"Writing finale. Found this doc on my computer. Look @ the date. No memory of writing it. Wish I could show the rest!" he tweeted along with the below photo.

Give us a minute; we're a little verklempt.

Bays' tweet was followed by this tweet from the How I Met Your Mother writers room: "In 21 days from today, we wrap HIMYM forever." Yep, now we're having all the feels.

During a Reddit question and answer session, Bays and co-creator Craig Thomas revealed they have not changed the finale very much as the show has progressed.

"We have not changed the very end of series at all. In fact, we shot part of it back in 2006, before Ted's kids got much older! We just looked at that footage, which will factor into the end of the series—it totally worked and was kind of haunting to watch! Shot 8 years ago and it will now help end our series on March 31st, 2014!" Thomas said.

"We've been slowly crafting the last 10 minutes of the show probably since it started, but the actual writing of it hasn't happened until just recently," Bays added.

Earlier this year Thomas revealed he was getting inspiration for the finale from a classic sitcom. "Watched the #Cheers series finale again for inspiration; cried as hard as I did in 1993. A reminder why we do what we do. #HIMYM," he tweeted.

The How I Met Your Mother series finale airs Monday, March 31 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
