A parent's job never ends.

Josh Lucas proved it Monday morning during his early Today show appearance.

In order to promote his new movie, Big Sur, with costar Kate Bosworth, the working dad was forced to bring his 1-year-old baby boy with him to set.

"My babysitter did not show up this morning," Lucas told cohosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager when asked about the surprise guest. "I was racing to be here on time."

Not that the ladies were complaining. "We love him," Kotb said with glee at the beginning of the interview.

Josh and his wife, Jessica, welcomed baby Noah back in June of 2012. They have Big Sur to thank for bringing them together.

"My wife and I fell in love during the making of this movie," he said. "And there's our son."

The movie also brought love to Bosworth. After meeting director Michael Polish on set, the couple's work relationship blossomed into a full-blown romance that ended in marriage.

"The kind of interesting thing about this movie is this movie created two relationships," Lucas pointed out. Or as we'd like to say, pure movie magic!
