Val Chmerkovskiy didn't know what he was getting into when he and Elizabeth Berkley decided to dance a jive inspired by the famous "I'm So Excited" scene from Saved by the Bell.

"I never realized how iconic that scene was in particular," Val told E! NewsGiuliana Rancic and Terrence Jenkins today when the pair stopped by to dish about Dancing With the Stars.

"I thought everything on Saved by the Bell was comedy," added the Ukrainian-born dance pro, who earlier on DWTS this season revealed that the classic teen show helped him learn English when he first came to America. But then, Val said, he started seeing all the buzz about their dance on Twitter before Monday night's show and he thought, "Let me check it out."

He soon learned that SBTB also did drama.

"Everybody on set that were fans of the show are like, 'This is the biggest thing that you're ever going to do,'" Val described the hype.

But while those fans may have been exaggerating just a bit, Elizabeth agreed that the "I'm So Excited" scene still means a lot to people, more than 25 years later.

"The show itself just has a goodness and an innocence and I think, especially from the feedback we're getting, doing a redo of the scene, it really brings people back to their childhood, when it was more simple and more easy," she said today.

"You go through things in life," she added, "and when you get reminded of that simple time, it brings about a sweetness."

Speaking of sweetness, the now 41-year-old actress (BTW, she shot that famous scene when she was 15!) also revealed that 14-month-old Sky, her son with hubby Greg Lauren, is totally a dancing fan now.

"He was on my lap and I was looking at some old videos of Val doing cha-cha when he was competing," she recalled, noting that she and Val will be dancing cha-cha next Monday, "and Skye was just on my lap going like this [cheering] and when people would clap, he was clapping with the audience."

Oh, and did you know that Val is kind of a great rapper?
