Swinging by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night to plug his latest album, The Diving Board, the music legend dished about his personal life as well as his surprising distaste for a certain ubiquitous technology.
After telling Jimmy Kimmel he's—spoiler alert!—gay, the funnyman jokingly congratulated him and asked whether he was going to take advantage of the new law the English parliament passed in July legalizing same-sex marriage.
"Yeah, we will do next May when it comes out," replied the 66-year-old singer-songwriter.
John noted that he and Furnish, whom he's been with for 20 years, entered into a civil partnership in England in 2005 which made a "huge difference" to their relationship. But being married is another step entirely, and it's one the hitmaker's ready to embrace.
"If the laws are gonna help us again, as a famous gay couple we will do it. It's our duty to do it to make sure everyone knows that this is something that's a gift that we never dreamed we'd ever get," John said.
When Kimmel wondered whether he'll be registering for gifts and do his shopping online, surprisingly the Rocket Man confessed he's actually pretty old school.
"I don't do anything online. I've never downloaded anything in my life. I don't have a phone. I don't twitter," said John.
When Kimmel expressed disbelief that he doesn't have a cell phone, Elton exclaimed: "Yeah, my life is fabulous…Nobody's ringing me two times a minute."
"I just have an iPad for the kids to keep skyping them if I'm not with them," he added.
John also talked about recent music collaborations he's been doing lately—from rocking out with Queens of the Stone Age on their new album, …Like Clockwork, to recording something earlier that day with Jack White.
Oh, and he loves listening to dance music in the morning.
