Will you keep this trophy on your TV mantle?

Malin Akerman, best known for her work in films such as 27 Dresses and Rock of Ages, makes the transition to TV in ABC's latest family sitcom Trophy Wife, in which she plays, you guessed it, a trophy wife. (Her onscreen hubby? The West Wing star Bradley Whitford. Not too shabby, lady!) Less than stellar title aside, we quite enjoyed ABC's latest comedy, which followed the premiere of fellow freshman The Goldbergs and the highly-anticipated new drama Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now that you've seen the series premiere, we're curious to know what you thought of Trophy Wife...

Putting the "fun" in dysfunctional, Trophy Wife centers on a different kind of modern family as reformed party girl Kate (Akerman) finds herself at the center of one crazy storm after marrying Peter (Whitford), a twice-divorced father of three. As if dealing with step-kids who aren't exactly her biggest fans (well, at least one of them isn't), Peter's two ex-wives are constantly around to keep things interesting. Marcia Gay Harden takes on the role of Pete's intimidating and very stern first wife Diana, while Jackie (Michael Watkins) is the eccentric hippie second wife.

There's a lot of dynamics to establish in the pilot, and Trophy Wife mostly pulls them off, though Jackie came off a bit one-dimensional for us and it's hard for us to see how Pete was ever married to her. But the show mostly rests on Akerman and she is truly charming as the in-over-her-head-but-head-over-heels-in-love Kate.

At the show's panel during the summer press tour, Akerman was initially turned off by the title saying, "Oh hell no, I'm not playing a trophy wife," but changed her mind once she read the script. "I thought it was brilliant. It's the complete opposite of a trophy wife." Executive producer Emily Halpern added, "The trophy wife part is really more about how others look at her." (Fun fact: The series is loosely inspired by creator Sarah Haskins' life.)
