Lauren Silverman's mother, who is currently visiting her daughter in New York, reaffirmed to E! News that Silverman and Simon Cowell are expecting a baby boy—and she is "very happy" to have another grandson on the way.
"We're all excited and we're all doing well," Carole Saland exclusively told us. "I'm just happy to be up here spending time with everyone."
Saland flew in from Florida for the Jewish New Year—and to keep Silverman company in general while Cowell is working on The X Factor in L.A.
"I'm so happy things have calmed down," Saland added, referring to the media circus surrounding her daughter's expectant status and the shock that the the guy she was expecting with was Simon Cowell.
It made her "very happy, absolutely" to see Cowell defending Silverman in the press, she added.
When news broke of Lauren's pregnancy, she was not yet officially divorced from Cowell pal Andrew Silverman, with whom she has a young son. The exes have since agreed on settlement terms and Lauren and Simon have taken their jet-setting relationship public.
During a sit-down on Ellen this week, Cowell admitted that he was excited about the reveal that he was going to be a first-time dad but that he also expected the situation to be "a bit of a nightmare," press-wise, right after the announcement.
"Because everyone knows, it was well documented, it was kind of uncomfortable. You know, the situation," Cowell said. "But these things happen and everything is kind of calm now and I'm happy. I'm actually happier than I've ever been."
"I can't blame the media because they've got a juicy story," he added, "but there was a lot of stuff said about her, that she trapped me and that she's a gold digger. Absolute nonsense. She's a great girl, but it was awkward because of the circumstances."
