True Blood stud Ryan Kwanten showed off his newly shaved head and debuted a mustache while posing for photos at the Guess Portrait Studio during the Toronto Film Festival on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The buzz cut is for his role as a Christian monk in an upcoming Viking battle movie.
Kwanten spoke to the Toronto Sun that same day about how lucky he feels to be working in Hollywood. "Every day of my life I wake up and think, 'Wow, how in the hell did I get here?'" the Aussie said.
"In terms of being an artist and being able to express myself physically and emotionally, I think it's such a real liberation," he added. "In a weird way actors are these eternal kids. We get paid to play out this innocence, and our emotions. And quite often in ways we wish we could in real life."
Now 37 years old, Kwanten said his quiet demeanor as a child led him to pursue a career in TV and film. "Being shy gave me the opportunity to sit back, whether at school or at a family get-together, and watch how people talk," he explained. "How they interact. Group dynamics. It gave me an objective view of conversations and of people."
