Rebecca Minkoff's highly anticipated New York Fashion Week showing included a collection grounded in punchy prints and a performance by soul singer Janelle Monae.
Monae performed a live set for the show's onlookers at Lincoln Center, singing tunes from her upcoming album The Electric Lady as models hit the catwalk. Minkoff's show attracted a slew of stylish celebs, with Louise Roe, Olivia Palermo, Jamie Chung, Jessica Lowndes and Zosia Mamet forming a cluster of Hollywood It-girls in the front row.
Notable trends from the collection include black, white and yellow-trimmed separates along with breezy floral dresses in here-comes-summer colors. Plaid made its way into Minkoff's offering, on both short dresses and a sheer maxi that came out toward the show's end. Models sported a range of footwear including knee-high sandals and cut-out booties.
The show's makeup story was muted and pretty, while the hairstyle of choice was a loose milkmaid's braid updo.
One of our favorite looks was a three-piece ensemble: a buttery lace midi skirt paired with a "Let's Go To Mexico"-emblazoned tee, black mesh jacket and floral pumps. We also loved a loose, printed blouse over French Maid-inspired shorts.
The designer, who has a decidedly young and tech-engaged following, livestreamed the show from her official website as part of the American Express UNSTAGED show at NYFW. E! Fashion Police panelist Kelly Osbourne was the livestream host for the presentation.
