We hate to pick on a 19-year-old, but if Dakota Fanning doesn't learn now what makes her look washed out and shiny she'll be pulling the same unflattering shenanigans into her twenties.

First of all, girlfriend desperately needs some layers.  The hair parted down the middle, hanging down on either side of her face just isn't working for her. We recommend adding some long face-framing layers to give this look more dimension and movement.

On to the face… While we love Dakota's porcelain skin, she needs some color somewhere to ensure she doesn't look completely washed out. Whether she opts for a jewel-toned eyeliner, blue or purple smoky eye, or just a punchy statement lip— this girl needs a pop of color pronto.

While her skin looks healthy, Ms. Fanning needs to instill a major anti-shine regimen.  We're sure it was warm in Venice, but we didn't notice any other starlets looking like they just finished a schvitz in the sauna.

Beauty Bailout: Let's start by tweaking Dakota's skincare regimen. She should start by washing her face with an oil-absorbing cleanser like Philosophy Total Matteness Pore-Minimizing & Mattifying Cleanser Mask. Then she should hydrate with a lightweight moisturizer that provides a matte finish like KORRES Pomegranate Balancing Cream-Gel Moisturiser.

Then, Ms. Fanning needs to use a good oil-controlling primer like Laura Mercier Oil-Free Primer followed by an application of a matte foundation like Maybelline DreamMatte Mousse. Once all of her makeup is applied, she should spray her face with Skindinavia No More Shine Makeup Finish, which will control oil and hold her makeup in place for several hours.

As for the little pop of color, we would give Dakota a fun statement lip.   We would choose a longwearing, highly pigmented lip color like BITE Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream in Muscato (bright fuchsia), which would bring out her ivory skin and blue eyes.

Want some irony? As much as Dakota's washed out skin reminded us of her undead role, Vampire Jane actually rocked some serious smoky eyes in the movie. Remember those navy smoky eyes? Gorg! Ms. Fanning needs to look up her on-set makeup artist! As for Dakota's shiny face, she should always remember that blotting papers are a girl's best friend, especially on the red carpet!!
