Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, the Americans

The Russians have taken over! But do you want them to stick around?

FX's new spy thriller The Americans premiered tonight, and we got to see Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as your average, ordinary married couple living in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. Oh, except they're actually KGB agents going undercover during the height of the Cold War!

We were sold on this show as soon as we heard Russell was returning to our TV lives, and it's nice to see in her such an ass-kicking role. Plus, The Americans is being compared to Showtime's mega-hit Homeland (ever heard of it?) which is never a bad thing. Except that Rhys told us that he'd rather people see their show as its own entity.

"It makes me a little nervous because Homeland was an incredible show and you never wanna be compared to an incredible show," he said. "You always wanna be your own. We are a very different show with a different premise."
