Lane Garrison Cops Plea in Battery Case; "Happy" to Put It Behind Him, Lawyer Says

Actor previously spent 18 months in prison for vehicular manslaughter, was arrested on suspicion of hitting an ex-girlfriend six days before end of parole

Lane Garrison caught a break today in court.

The onetime Prison Break star avoided more jail time by pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery stemming from his April 2012 arrest on suspicion of striking his Playboy Playmate ex-girlfriend.

Defense attorney Harland Braun confirms to E! News that his client was credited for time served in Los Angeles County jail following his arrest and sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation.

The 32-year-old actor is also required to attend 52 domestic violence classes and 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, perform eight hours of community service and pay $400 to the Domestic Violence Fund, which provides money for legal services and counseling to victims.

Lastly, per L.A. Superior Court Judge Elden Fox, Garrison must continue to stay away from his ex, Ashley Mattingly.

Garrison served 18 months in prison for vehicular manslaughter for being behind the wheel in a DUI crash that left a Beverly Hills High School student dead in 2007. He was arrested for battery last year six days before the scheduled end of his parole.

"The main thing now," Braun says, noting that Garrison has completed his parole, "is that he can work anywhere in the country. There is no restriction on him. When he got out of prison, they wouldn't let him leave the state, which essentially ended his career."

"He was very happy to get it all behind him," Braun adds.
