The system sorta failed Skylar Laine, sticking her in the bottom three, but it ultimately was the end of the line for Elise Testone.
Which yes, was a surprise, considering Hollie Cavanagh seemed like the obvious choice weeks ago, but she has since proved to have a sturdier fan base than the more rock 'n' roll-proficient Elise.
The 28-year-old said farewell to the competition with a rendition of her best performance of the season, Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love."
Phillip Phillips can continue to do no wrong, avoiding the bottom three despite receiving some of the judges' most lackluster praise last night. He joined Jessica Sanchez and, most deserving of all, Joshua Ledet in golden territory.
Katy Perry, her hair a deep violet, entertained the crowd mid-reaping with her latest hit, "Part of Me."
