Miley Cyrus Is No Wild Child: "She Has a Good Head on Her Shoulders"

Why all the Miley Cyrus hate out there?

Talk to anyone who's worked with the starlet and they'll tell you...

She's not the irresponsible wild child that so many want to believe.

"I have to say I had a couple of great conversations with her," Gina Gershon, who worked with Cyrus in the upcoming indie comedy LOL, told me the other day at South by Southwest. "I felt she was grounded and smart and very down to earth...She has a good head on her shoulders. So she's out having a good time. How old is she?"

LOL, about a girl navigating high school, costars Twilight's Ashley Greene and Demi Moore.

While LOL may be teen-friendly, Gershon's SXSW flick, Killer Joe, is something quite different. The black comedy, also starring Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch, was slapped with an NC-17 rating last month. They're appealing to try to get an R in time for its summer release.

"I hope it doesn't have an NC-17 because I really want people to see it," Gershon said. "People just need to know it's a very intense R. It's a very intense, emotional and visceral film."
