Spoiler Alert! Do not read the following article if you have yet to watch tonight's episode of The Walking Dead. If you haven't watched it yet and continue to read on, you have no excuse to complain about spoilers in the comments section. House rules!

Moment of silence, y'all!

The Walking Dead, the AMC hit series that never shies away from killing off its characters, said goodbye to another one in tonight's shocking episode that caused us to dent our floor because our jaws hit it so hard.

So what happened? And what did you think of the crazy twist TWD pulled on us?

While we were led to believe that the injured prisoner Randall (Michael Zegen) was going to be a goner by the episode's end, due to his knowledge about the whereabouts of Hershel's Family Farm, we were completely wrong. Randall made it to the end of the hour unscathed, despite the gang spending most of the episode deciding his fate.

Too bad the same can't be said for Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn), who thought the group shouldn't kill Randall and left disgusted after they decided to kill him. On his retreat, he ran into a walker...who ripped his stomach open. Ever so gracious, Daryl (Norman Reedus) put a bullet in Dale's brain to spare him a lifetime of zombieness.

Often the voice of reason, Dale was the gang's quintessential wise elder, so it'll be curious to see the group's dynamics shift after his death.

Especially compelling will be the impact on Carl (the amazing Chandler Riggs), whom we expect to see eaten up (sorry) by guilt. After all, the walker in question might have been stuck in mud for eternity if Carl hadn't taunted him...and then ran away instead of shooting him with the gun he stole from Daryl.

If that wasn't enough doom and gloom for you people, AMC also accidentally leaked (oops!) another major character's death that's coming up soon via their DVD ad, so read at your own risk!

What did you think of tonight's episode, TWD fans? Were you as shocked to see Dale go as we were? Sound off in the comments!
