The pirate's life is for him all right.

This in-demand Hollywood talent just won an Oscar for a certain period drama about a stuttering monarch.

Now for his next gig, he's going further back in time, teaming up with a booze maker to create an advertising campaign that showcases scenes from the life of 17th century privateer-turned-corporate mascot Captain Henry Morgan.

So just who is this English gentleman ready to roll cameras?

No, it's not Colin Firth. It's his King's Speech director, Tom Hooper!

The move into commercials isn't unprecedented for a big-time director. Remember Baz Luhrmann's Chanel No. 5 ads with Nicole Kidman? And Ridley Scott's "Big Brother" commercial for Macintosh is an all-time classic.

Hooper will direct the largest campaign in the brand's 60-year history, shooting scenes aboard a replica of Morgan's original galleon, Andalucia. After that project, the filmmaker will reportedly get cracking on a big-screen musical adaptation of Broadway's Les Misérables.

Fans can view the first of Hooper's Captain Morgan spots, Dive, on TV and the company's Facebook and YouTube pages beginning May 14.
