The autopsy is done, but the questions surrounding Slipknot bassist Paul Gray's shocking death still linger.

An autopsy today on the 38-year-old masked metal maven proved inconclusive.

"The cause of death is still under investigation because we have to get the toxicology back," Polk County, Iowa, Medical Examiner Dr. Gregory Schmunk tells E! News.

Schmunk says Gray did not have any known medical issues. He was also unaware of any drugs or medications being found near Gray's body. The rocker was arrested on a drug-possession charge back in 2003.

"I can say that there was no evidence of foul play, no evidence of significant trauma," adds Schmunk. "He had been dead at least several hours prior to his discovery in the hotel."

Gray had been staying in the TownePlace Suites in Urbandale, a suburb of the band's home base of Des Moines.
