Miley Cyrus' new video isn't the only thing inappropriate for little kids.

Walmart has temporarily yanked the pop star's jewelry line off its shelves after lab tests found that the pieces contained high levels of cadmium, a toxic metal that can result in serious side effects if traces of it are ingested in any way.

Not that wearing the pieces, which Cyrus collaborated on with BCBG and Hervé Léger designer Max Azria, is going to hurt you necessarily—the concern is that litle kids could get sick from biting or sucking on the jewelry—but neither Miley's camp nor Walmart is taking any chances.

"The Miley Cyrus & Max Azria line is not for children," read a statement released to E! News by Cyrus's rep on behalf of all the parties involved.

"It is sold in our ladies apparel section and it was designed for and marketed to older audiences. However, it is possible that a few younger consumers may seek it out in stores. Miley Cyrus & Max Azria jewelry is not intended for children, but as part of our unwavering commitment to protecting the safety of children, we are removing all of the jewelry from sale while we investigate its compliance with our children's jewelry standard."

According to the statement, the jewelry was made in compliance with the British Standard Safety of Toys, Part 3, which was adopted by Walmart some time ago because the U.S. didn't have a cadmium standard for children's products.

All of the Miley-Max jewelry manufactured after April 9, 2010, must meet this standard in order to be sold in Walmart stores, though a review showed that most the products on the shelves beforehand already did.

"We voluntarily withdrew the few products that did not," the statement concluded.  "As we have always done, if customers raise new concerns, we will evaluate the products involved and take appropriate action."

The toxicity tests were initiated by the Associated Press. Ingesting any amount of cadmium can immediately cause serious liver and kidney problems, as well as weaken bones and the respiratory tract.

On a lighter note, Miley's new single, "Can't Be Tamed," debuted at No. 1 on iTunes' singles chart.
