The only way to box in Miley Cyrus these days is with an actual television set.

Right up until it was time to hit the Hannah Montana wrap party Sunday, the 17-year-old pop star was rehearsing for her appearance on Dancing With the Stars tonight, where she'll perform her single "Can't Be Tamed" on live TV for the first time.

E! News has learned that the elaborate production will take its cue from Miley's "Can't Be Tamed" video—with a few edited-for-television tweaks.

"Miley wants to make a big splash, so she's put a lot of work into this performance," an insider tells E! News.

She won't be wearing the same bird-inspired costume that she donned for the video, but the outfit she's picked out will be just as eye-catching, a source says. Similarly, the live dance routine, like the video's, was choreographed by Jamal Sims, who also worked on Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour.

Missing from tonight's broadcast, however, will be Cyrus pal and backup dancer Mandy Jiroux, who's off prepping for a performance by her girl group BG5 (which, FYI, E! News has exclusively learned is being comanaged by none other than Kris Jenner).

But even though Miley's going to be pretty exhausted, later this week she's boarding a flight to Kentucky, where she'll visit the town of Hazard to check out the progress of Blessings in a Backpack, a program that provides kids in danger of going hungry with packs full of food when they're home on weekends without access to school meal programs.

We're told that Miley's going to be committing time and money to the charity over the next couple years.

"The kids don't even know she's coming yet," a source tells E! News, "so Thursday she'll get to see the kids and they'll get to see her. It will be her first visit there for the program."

"It is abject poverty in that area," the source says.  "When you are feeding these children you are making a difference in their education, their self-esteem, the whole nine yards."
