If we didn't know any better, we would have thought we were watching The Biggest Loser last night when we tuned into the season premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Matriarch Caroline Manzo's husband, Albert, has lost a whopping 100 pounds!

Albert's weight became a matter of life or death. "His body was starting to fail him," Caroline says. "He wasn't feeling well so we went to the doctor."

The diagnosis was frightening...

At 298 pounds, Albert was morbidly obese.

"The doctor said, 'Keep going the way you're going and you can guarantee cutting your life short by 10 years," Caroline says. "I just looked at him and I burst into tears. He looked at the doctor and said, 'What do I have to do?' and he made a change."

Details of Albert's health scare and his treatment will be detailed on the show, but Caroline for now says, "He wants to lose another 20 or so pounds to get to his goal weight.

"I think this is going to motivate people to really take a second look at themselves," she adds. "Wouldn't that be a shame if people died if they ate too much?"
