Roman Polanski is out of jail. This much we know. But where he is exactly is another story.

The Oscar winner posted his $4.5 million cash bond and was released from a Zurich jail Thursday. He was then transferred to an "undisclosed location" for security reasons, according to Swiss officials.

Anybody check Chinatown?

Polanski will remain under his Dick Cheney-esque rock overnight before being moved Friday to his luxury Alpine chalet in the posh resort town of Gstaad. There, the 76-year-old helmer will remain under house arrest (presumably sipping wine and downing fromage) while he awaits an extradition hearing that will decide whether he'll be sent back to the U.S. to finally face the music for a three-decades-old sex charge.

The filmmaker will have to endure one hardship: He'll be sporting an electronic monitoring bracelet so authorities can keep tabs on his whereabouts.

C'est la vie when you cop to having sex with a minor.
