Adam Rose/FOXWith only six weeks left in the competition, So You Think You Can Dance is on fire! The top 10 faced off against each other for the first time as individual dancers with an all-star partner by their side, making that much harder to pick a favorite couple.
So how did they do on their own, which guy did guest judge Neil Patrick Harris peg as the one to beat, and what dance did judge Nigel Lythgoe compare to Joan Rivers' face?
From our seat behind the judges table at Wednesday night's performance show, we could barely hear ourselves above the shrieks and screams making it obvious that eliminations are going to be near impossible from now on.
It's no surprise Marko Germar's samba with season-four all-star Chelsie Hightower was a kick-off crowd pleaser that had the judges gushing. Neil Patrick even went as far as to say, "You are the guy to beat."
Marko was followed by a fearless contemporary number by Jordan Casanova and her season-five all-star Brandon Bryant, that had Nigel begging dance fans to vote for her. "Wake up dance fans and keep this girl in the competition," he said.
Tadd Gadduang and Sasha Mallory garnered standing ovations and screams for their separate hip-hop routines with their all-stars. Sasha in particular couldn't stop gushing about her time working with season-four alum Twitch, making us think she might have a little crush!
"There's something about Twitch," she told us. "You have no choice but to connect with him because he's such an amazing person. I'm honored that I got to work with him. He's so fun and fun to be around. I wasn't nervous one second working with him."
Unfortunately, not everyone received positive feedback for their performances. Mitchell Kelly's Broadway routine fell flat, leaving NPH puzzled and unimpressed. "It seemed disjointed and not thought out," he said.
When we chatted with Mitchell after the show, he defend himself to set the record straight on why his piece wasn't a showstopper. "It wasn't my dancing and it wasn't my personality," he explained. "It was more of the song. They said something about the editing, how it went from cool to big and wild, things like that. Overall, I believe I did what I had to do. I had to make the dance come to life and that's what I did tonight and I'm proud of it."
The funniest part of the night was Nigel's critique for Jess Leprotto who, week after week has been told to work on his lifts. His routine was full of them, which Nigel took as an opportunity to poke fun at Tinseltown's plastic surgery poster woman. "That routine had more lifts than Joan Rivers face," he joked.
All joking aside, judge Mary Murphy was glowing over Jess and said, "This is my favorite piece you have done this season!"
Of course these days, you can't get through a week at SYTYCD without a smooch! Clarice Ordaz and season seven's Robert Roldan locked lips during their flashy Bollywood routine, which left her blushing after the show!
"My boyfriend was front row!" she told us. "I've never done that before! It was my first onscreen kiss. I was really nervous before because I had never done it before. Also the fact that it was Robert. He's cute, he's sweet and being in rehearsals with him, he's sweeter than I expected. He's amazing. It was definitely a lot more comfortable than I expected."
