Don't Look Now, but 30 Rock Could Actually Lose an Award! (We Know, Crazy)

Nominees for the 2010 Golden Globes are here, and this year the new shows are giving the classics a run for their money

For two years running now, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and 30 Rock have swept nearly all the major categories at the Golden Globes and the Emmy Awards, but that may be about to change, my friends.

See, it's actually a stellar year for freshman TV comedy, which is why I didn't mind getting up bright dark and early at 2 a.m. for our live E! coverage of the 2010 Golden Globe nominations this morning. Because along with the usual nods for the still-deserving 30 Rock clan, we also saw nominations for newcomers we love, like Glee (four nominations, and that's more than 30 Rock!), Modern Family, Toni Collette (United States of Tara) and Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie).

It also didn't hurt that John Krasinski was in the house to read off names (though he didn't stick around for any interviews afterward...boo).

So who was left out? What does Dexter's Michael C. Hall have to say about his nomination and John Lithgow?

While we can't begin to tell you just how robbed Jennifer Carpenter (Deb) was, Dexter did receive some love, including nods for Michael C. Hall, John Lithgow (who is up against Neil Patrick Harris, why?!) and Best Drama series. We might still be reeling from the finale, but any and all of these awards would be much deserved. In response to his nomination, Dexter Morgan himself, Michael C. Hall, tells us: "Thanks to the HFPA for this collective and individual recognition. I'm very gratified that John received an individual nomination as well. His performance as Trinity is an instant classic." True dat.

In more surprising snubs news, critical sensation—and all around great show—Sons of Anarchy was shutout completely, even Katey Sagal, who delivered one of the most moving performances on television this year. The Emmy winning Breaking Bad was also left without a nomination, and former Globes staples Monk and Tony Shalhoub were overlooked for the final season. Michael Emerson took home the only nomination for Lost, although we're guessing they're saving up their awards for the final year.

And hello, HFPA, what is up with the Amy Poehler snub? With Parks and Recreation enjoying a stellar sophomore year, and Amy obviously being a huge reason behind that, her exclusion might be most shocking of all.
