Mollee Gray and Nathan Trasoras' devoted fan base made all the difference this week on So You Think You Can Dance. Had Mollee and Nathan's fans not voted their couple safe during last night's competition show, the bottom six would have had a different composition, and it's possible that another couple might have gone home.

So who did go home tonight, how did Mollee and Nathan change the game, and which dancer might be too sexy for her own good? Here's what we learned from chatting with the judges after the top 16 results show...

Tiny little Pauline Mata and tapper Peter Sabasino were sent home tonight, due to a combination of the quickstep curse, lackluster solos and what all three judges characterize as a lack of "star moments" during their time on the show.

Judge Nigel Lythgoe told us why Pauline was selected to leave: "I think we thought that Ellenore had the most fantastic tango [the other week]. And we love Karen. She’s got style that's outstanding, and she was going nowhere tonight. So all you can do is weigh it up against those two."

As for the boys, Nigel told us that Peter became the odd man out: "We think Ryan is a great partner, and Kevin is growing week on week." And of course, it doesn't hurt that well-muscled Ryan has that heartthrob potential. As judge Adam Shankman told us after the show, "Anyone who spends that much time with their shirt off is likely to get hearts throbbing."

As for the overall competition yesterday, Nigel said the bottom three couples would have comprised different people if the judges had their druthers: "[Our bottom couples] would have included Nathan and Mollee. Not to get rid of them, but to give them the little smack on the back of the leg and say, 'You've got to wake up.' Nathan in particular, you’ve got to wake up."

The judges also expressed concern that sexpot Karen Hauer might have some difficulty connecting with the audience as the competition progresses. As Adam Shankman put it to us backstage, "I think that what Nigel said is pretty realistic—that Karen's confidence and sensuality may affect the younger voters. They may not vote for her, because she looks like the girl who's going to take all their boyfriends anyway."

Did the judges make the right call? Are you one of Mollee and Nathan's fangirls? And what did you think of the special Alvin Ailey performance and the Dave Scott-choreographed warrior-themed group dance featuring a "fight" between Jakob and Legacy? Tell us in the comments!
