Network's entertainment co-chair jumps the ship he helped sink after two years at top post

Two years. A prime-time stinkfest filled with Knight Rider, Bionic Woman and the last couple Heroes seasons. Ever-declining ratings. A fourth-place network…

Yeah, we'd say Ben Silverman's work is done here, too.

The NBC Entertainment cochairman announced this morning that he would be adiosing his post at the Peacock in order to form a new media company to produce and distribute flops content for TV, Web and mobile devices.

His mogulness, who last year cameo'd on Entourage, hasn't used his powers entirely for evil: In addition to his many D.O.A. TV offerings, he remains a credited producer on The Office and ABC's Ugly Betty and was responsible for extending the much-beloved Friday Night Lights.

Nice try, Silverman. We're not even close to calling it even.
