Redmond O'Neal is on the rebound.

The son of Oscar-nominated actor Ryan O'Neal appeared in a Los Angeles court Thursday for a progress report stemming from his arrest last month along with his father for possession of methamphetamines.

According to People, when asked by Superior Court Judge Scott Millington how he was faring after completing a two-week detox program, the 23-year-old O'Neal replied, "Doing a lot better."

"You're looking a lot better from the last time I saw you," said His Honor. "You're on the right path. I know it's easy to stray. Stay clean."

Both O'Neals were taken into custody Sept. 17 after authorities turned up a stash of meth during a routine probation checkup at the elder O'Neal's Malibu home related to Redmond's previous drug-related offenses.

Both now face felony and misdemeanor drug charges, and an arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 13.

Ryan O'Neal's attorney, Mark Werksman, has since said his client doesn't do drugs and the substances police found belonged to the younger O'Neal, who at the time of the bust was on three years' probation for drug possession and misdemeanor driving under the influence until he suffered a relapse.

Redmond is no stranger to drug troubles, having checked into rehab back in 2004 to overcome an addiction to heroin.

At yesterday's hearing he informed the judge that he planned to enroll in a further drug treatment program in an effort to get sober.
