As is only fit for an artiste who's banked more than 70 new songs—and isn't afraid to crow about it—in recent months, Beyoncé has revealed her much-hyped new record will in fact be a double album named in part after her infamous stage persona alter ego.
I Am...Sasha Fierce is due out Nov. 18, and Beyoncé is already doing her best to provide enough recycled backstory for the album's title to satiate even the most detail-hungry fan.
"The new record is a double album and has two covers, like a magazine would have two covers," her Fierceness explained. "One of the covers is named I Am… and then the second cover is named Sasha Fierce. That is my alter ego and now she has a last name."
As promised, the format will allow Beyoncé to take a more personal and expansive approach to the music, showcasing the two sides of her personality.
"I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am. That's why half the record, I Am..., is about who I am underneath all the makeup, underneath the light, and underneath all the exciting star drama."
And as for that other "exciting star drama"-laden half...
"Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage."
The first hints of each were released to the world earlier this month, with singles from both albums simultaneously let loose into the ether—"If I Were A Boy," from I Am..., and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," from Sasha Fierce.
The 26-year-old Grammy winner, who earlier this month called the forthcoming opus her "musical baby," now says the twofer record will be her most revealing work to date.
"The double album allows me to take more risks and really step out of myself, or shall I say, step more into myself, and reveal a side of me that only people who know me see."
