After catching a break in his latest court case, Tom Sizemore claims his drug-using days are behind him.

"I'm not trading my whole life for some powder," the actor told the Bakersfield Californian in a jailhouse interview last week.

"God's trying to tell me he doesn't want me using drugs because every time I use them I get caught," he added.

If that's the case, it sure took him long enough to get the message.

Sizemore was arrested in Bakersfield in May and charged with violating his probation in a 2004 drug case after police found him to be in possession of crystal meth and other contraband.

He was initially sentenced to 16 months behind bars but is now due for release next month under the terms of a plea agreement he made last week.

As part of the deal, Sizemore pleaded no contest to one count of transporting drugs for personal use, while a judge agreed to dismiss five additional felony charges against the Saving Private Ryan star.

Sizemore will not serve any more time behind bars in the case, but instead will be placed in a court-ordered drug-therapy program.

If he fails to stay clean, he could face up to four years in prison.

The actor vowed that he would kick his addictions for good this time around.

"I got another chance," he said. "Some people might think I don't deserve one, but I'm glad the judge thought so, and I mean to make the most of it."
