With all his personal troubles in the past year, we're guessing Eminem's got plenty of material stored up for his next album.

There's probably a whole rap or two in this one: Eminem has finally reached a temporary divorce settlement with his soon-to-be ex-wife.

After a two-month stab at reconciliation ended earlier this month with the missus filing for divorce a second time, the twosome was able to make nice long enough to hammer out a deal over the custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade.

As part of the agreement, the hip-hopster otherwise known as Marshall Mathers III and his wife, Kim Mathers, will share legal and physical custody of their kid. Additionally, Eminem will hold on to the couple's $450,000 house in suburban Detroit, while Kim will get a check for $475,000 to buy a new home.

"It was easily arrived at because each person was concerned with the family and concerned with the well being of their daughter," Em's attorney, Harvey Hauer tells the Detroit News.

Hauer also characterized the proceedings as amicable and "not contentious at all."

While the couple was quick to work out a preliminary settlement for the benefit of their child, they still have the tough task of figuring out the worth of their "marital estate"-- including mortgages, life insurance and other joint assets--and then divvying it up. And that's in addition to Eminem's income from such various sources as album royalties, touring fees, merchandise and promotional appearances.

The speedy settlement comes just two weeks after Kim Mathers reinstated her divorce petition March 1 in Michigan's Macomb County Circuit Court, citing irreconcilable differences. It also brings to a close the tumultuous two-year on-again off-again marriage that made headlines almost as much as Eminem's controversial rhymes.

The 28-year-old Grammy-winning rapper tied the knot with his former high school sweetie in June of 1999. Just 14 months later, Em filed for divorce.

His 25-year-old wife promptly fired back, filing suit a week later for a share of his estate. She also demanded an additional $10 million for emotional distress caused by songs like "Kim" in which the rapper rhymes about killing his wife.

By that time, the couple's feuding had become front page news when the rapper was arrested for allegedly pistol-whipping a man caught kissing Kim outside a Michigan bar.

Following the incident, Kim tried to take her own life at the couple's Sterling Heights, Michigan, home.

In December, they withdrew their original divorce petition and announced they were reconciling for the sake of their young daughter.

Meanwhile, Eminem is due in court April 10 to face sentencing over the pistol-whipping incident. He earlier pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, which carries a maximum penalty of five year in the slammer.

Yup, his next album will practically write itself.
